Metaphor magazine has gone to print! Our first year students learn to design and produce a magazine in their Photo Practice module. We talk about lots of digital applications and different ways to get your work out in to the world.
These are the early stages of learning about print reproduction. Eventually, all the students on the BA Photography make at least two books on specific projects.
Making photographic projects requires a great deal of research, creative thinking, and critical selection of images. That’s true whether it’s an original creative project or a commissioned commercial project. We try to tie all these elements together at each stage of the programme.
All of the work in the magazine comes from self-directed projects completed this year. Stay tuned for the finished piece!

This is the second year we have printed the work. Last year’s version was so well received that we are doubling the print run.
A big thanks to the School of Media in the Technological University Dublin for their support, and to Impress Printing in Walkinstown in Dublin for their expertise.
